Millions of people travel to Orlando, Florida each year, many with plans for visiting the top dog of tourist sites – Disneyworld and the parks of the Magic Kingdom.

While Disneyworld is a must-see in Orlando, especially for families with young children, Orlando has many other attractions to keep everyone busy. There are several other major theme parks, including Universal Studios, Seaworld, MGM Grand and Epcot Center. In addition there are many smaller attractions vying for your tourist dollars, and you will find a wide variety of options.

Since staying within the vicinity of the major parks can be expensive and sometimes also isolating (the parks take up large land masses and many nearby hotels tend to be situated on their own without surrounding infrastructure such as stores, etc.. This may leave you without much choice in food and other entertainment other than what is offered at your hotel), many people look for alternatives.

One such alternative is a nearby tourist center which also offers affordable places to stay, namely the resort area of Kissimmee/St. Cloud. Kissimmee is within easy driving distance of all the major theme parks in Orlando, and of course the Disney parks. You’ll find accommodation of all ranges in Kissimmee, from trailer parks for RV’s to motels and larger hotels with pools and a wider array of amenities.

Along the main strip of Kissimmee you’ll find many fun and affordable attractions to keep your family entertained during your holiday. There are fantastic mini-golf courses, fun evening show extravaganzas, and the quaint shopping village of Old Town, with rides and a variety of boutiques. The daredevils in your bunch will get a kick out of the thrill rides at Old Town, including the world’s tallest SkyCoaster ride at over300ft tall.

You’ll also find all the necessary holiday amenities in Kissimmee – grocery stores, buffet restaurants and t-shirt and souvenir shops. See map below for more information!
